Company history
Mr Werner Deisel started Orchid Care Services.
Mr Deisel is a horticulturist, trained in West Germany, who migrated to Australia in 1960. While still in Germany, Dos Pueblos Orchid Company in Dee Why offered a job and he worked there for six years. From 1966 Werner worked for Wondabah Orchids as horticulturist/hybridist for a period of 21 years. Specialising in orchidsDuring this time, Werner specialised in orchids and became involved in different orchid societies. He gave lectures and also was guest speaker a few times with Graham and Sandra Ross – Gardening Australia TV program. Werner has created new orchid hybrids which are registered at The Royal Horticultural Society – Sanders List of Orchid Hybrids.Servicing the orchid industry
Orchid Care Services started in 1987 as a service to the orchid industry giving advice mainly on maintenance, repotting, choosing the correct potting materials to use, position of orchid glasshouse including temperature and light factor.
In 1989, the company moved to a 5-acre property in Vineyard and bought an existing company in Newcastle (Pindimar Agricultural Supplies). A work shed was built to house the equipment from Newcastle. We started manufacturing and marketing different potting media for all types of orchids. Our products are also used for other plants including bromeliads, ferns, palms and many indoor plants.
